T"On the Mall" was composed by Edwin Franko Goldman (1878–1956) one of America’s great bandleaders of the 20th century. First published in 1923, this stirring march was arranged by Matthew Lake. "On the Mall" continues to be performed and recorded by bands throughout America and around the world. This new edition by Charles Booker includes a full corrected score and parts that reflect the original 1923 publication. Percussion and mallet parts have been added to enhance the overall presentation. Eb Horn parts are now in F. There are now 4 cornet parts, Solo, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The phrase "On the Mall" refers to the Mall at the Naumberg Bandshell in Central Park, New York City, where Goldman's Band frequently performed. In typical Goldman fashion, the trio is sung by band members and then repeated, after a break strain with whistling. Goldman toured with his band in many different venues, and encouraged audiences to sing along in the trio of "On the Mall" and then whistle with the band.
