Premiered by the 2020 Mid-State HS Band (Tennessee) and the Clark College Jazz Ensemble (Washington): This dreamy, medium-tempo authentic Brazilian samba features your lead trombone soloist on a written solo with lush ensemble harmonies, beautiful countermelodies and an open improv section before kicking into a brief funk groove-winding back down to a warm and pensive ending. Rhythm section parts are clearly notated in detail for an authentic performance and is playable by as few as 2 or 3 percussionists. Your students and audience will love performing this beautiful composition, which also makes a great festival selection.
