Raise a Ruckus is an African American opened ended dance song dating from at least the 19th century in the antebellum South. This arrangement maintains the traditional “Call & Response” format and provides the opportunity for the entire ensemble to be in the spotlight through written solis (optional easy improvisation). It is also a great tune to introduce young players to syncopation and swinging rhythmic style.
